I live below the S.Mtn S.Park north of Weverton Bluffs and just realized
that in the past 3 seasons here, I've not heard or seen a single screech
owl.  Of course, the SMSP is part of a much larger forested area that
essentially defines the entire South Mtn north to PA, and there are
neighboring yards of various mgmt styles, corn / fallow / hay fields
bordering the east and west boundaries of this forested area.  Seems like
there's all types of habitat for them here - has anyone seen or heard them
in this (or similar nearby) areas or have an idea why they might be absent
(not saying they are,just that I haven't seen or heard them) Also havent
come up with one at the C&O either, which is only 1 mile south.  Anyone?
