Calvert and St. Mary's Highlights

Hi Everyone, 

I decided to head south this morning (4/3) to do some hiking and birding in
Calvert County, then pay a visit to Shrimpy at the Seabreeze in St. Mary's
County. Below are some of the highlights:

Broome's Island:
Lesser Scaup ~20
Bufflehead - 3
Long-tailed Ducks ~12
Common Loons - 3 (breeding plumage)
Horned Grebes - 6 (ditto)
Osprey - 1
Forster's Tern - 1
Barn Swallow - 1

Flag Ponds Nature Park:
Wood Ducks - 3
Gadwall - 2
American Wigeon ~8
Green-winged Teal - 11
Pied-billed Grebe - 1
Pileated Woodpeckers - 2
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - 2; singing non-stop (the birds, not me)
Pine Warblers - 2
Rusty Blackbirds - At LEAST 100! Very large flock

General:
Chipping Sparrows - Singing at several locations in both counties

Seabreeze Restaurant on the Patuxent River:
Common Loons - 2 (breeding plumage)
Horned Grebes - 3 (ditto)
Long-tailed Ducks ~20
Bufflehead ~12
Osprey - 1; harried by RBGUs for its catch (safe getaway)
Forster's Terns - 2
Probable Royal Tern - 1; very distant
Kelp Gull - 0
Cups of Coffee - 2
Bowls of Crab Soup - 1
Bloody Mary - 1
