Talbot Birders -
A small but persistent set of Talbot birders (led by the undersigned)
braved the wind and cold and wet conditions this morning and were rewarded
with the viewing of 51 species of birds. The birding included several stops
in the Claiborne area before ending up at the Wade's Point Inn Bed and
Breakfast property.
    Highlights:
RUSTY BLACKBIRD, Double-crested Cormorant, Common Loon, Blue-winged
Teal, Green-winged Teal, Bald Eagle, Tree Swallows, Horned Lark, Forster's
Tern, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Others included Wood Duck, Lesser Scaup, Long-tailed Duck, Surf Scoter,
Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Black and Turkey Vultures, Osprey, Red-tailed
Hawk, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Red-bellied
Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Blue Jay, Carolina Wren,
Eastern Bluebird, numerous Robins, Brown Thrasher singing, Song Sparrow,
White-throated Sparrow, Junco, and Red-winged Blackbird.

This afternoon my wife and I ventured out to Black Walnut Point for some
birding by car, and found several NORTHERN GANNETS, 18 Wild Turkeys, several
D-C Cormorants, a flock of Ruddy Ducks, several Kestrels and a Cooper's
Hawk.
As we entered our driveway after the trip we saw a Wild Turkey walk into
the wooded portion of our own property - a first for us in the 9 years we
have been here.
