Probably due to high winds, but this is the first time I've walked from my
house, up through the S.Mtn S.P. to the A.T. and back down and not seen or
heard a single bird in the forest interior.  I though at least a chickadee,
a t.vulture soaring over the canopy. Nothing.

A great lead up to the first Y.Rumped Warbler at this location this spring -
just in time for lunch (good with teryaki sauce, just kidding) so it was
well worth the ghostly-ness of the morning.  Last year on the first song
date for Y.Rumps, they were all the way from the yard-treeline up and over
the ridge, but they've only begun...more to come.
