I made stops at Lapidum and above the dam this afternoon to check out the
current gull situation. There were about 200 Bonaparte's Gull at Lapidum, but
they were all near the 95 bridge and picking out rare gulls would not have
fun. The shimmer was pretty bad, and the wind was blowing a good bit as well.
I didn't stay more than 15 minutes. Above the dam I had more success.
There were less Bonaparte's, about 125, but an adult winter plumaged Little Gull
and an (the?) adult breeding plumaged Black-headed Gull were being very
cooperative. There were also 6 Black Ducks, 15 Red-breasted Mergansers, and 4
Long-tailed Ducks.
The gulls are wandering the whole river so be patient.
