Greetings,

While walking the baby around the neighborhood yesterday afternnon I
counted 30 species with the following migrants noted: Wood Duck, Osprey,
Cooper's Hawk, Eastern Phoebe, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Tree Swallow,
Chipping Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed junco.

The real treat though was in the morning at my house on the North East
River at Hances Point. In addition to a Great Egret (present yesterday AM
and this morning), We had four Bald Eagles going at it hard core in the air
around Shelter Cove. A little history. At the end of my driveway
overlooking Shelter Cove there is an active Osprey nest. Last week the
ospreys returned and were renavating the nest and roosting in it. Three
days ago the Ospreys vacated and in moved Two Bald Eagles. the Eagles
worked hard on the nest and also roosted in it at night. Yesterday I was
surprised to fond FOUR eagles hard at arial combat in the yard. I watched
for over an hour as the eagles hit eachother hard mid air, sometimes
falling all the way to the ground. Each time this happened they would hit
with a thud and slowly get up to resume the arial assult. After an hour or
so the all left and i have not seen an Eagle in the yard since then.
However as the sun set yesterday two Ospreys had resumed occupency of the
nest....go figure.

Good Birding,
