Yesterday I visited Hughes Hollow, Montgomery Co. and saw the Sora in the same general area it was seen before. I saw it in the thicket to the right and before the billboard. It was working the edge and shallow water 10-15 feet to the right of the concrete outflow. There was also a Green Heron there, Gnatcatcher and Ruby-crowned Kinglet singing, a Brown Thrasher, and three Swamp Sparrows along the dike.
On the way home I stopped at Stronghold, Frederick Co. at the base opf Sugarloaf Mountain. There were at least 5 Ruby-crowns here, also heard one Winter Wren and saw a singing Blue-headed Vireo and a pair of Pine Warblers.
In the afternoon I went to Soldiers Delight in Baltimore Co. to look for butterflies but also saw 2 Yellow Palm Warblers and heard a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and 4 Pine Warblers singing.
Later at McKeldin in Carroll Co. it was quiet with one Gnatcatcher and another Ruby-crown heard singing.
Along roadsides with thickets there were clouds of sparrows, mostly Chipping, Field, and White-throated with a few juncos.
