Our first spring arrivals came this morning, the WOOD THRUSH. The PILEATED and HAIRY WOODPECKERS have been making their presence known. We have saved a lot of the dead wood in the woods and it is paying off. All winter we have had the sapsucker, hairy and downy come to the feeder. The pileated hits all the dead logs. Two GREAT HORNED OWLS visit almost nightly. We were hoping they would nest in a large tree out front but didn't. Bill set up six bluebird houses and the purple martin house. We have bluebird interest in the houses and tree swallows have staked out the martin house. Chickadees have claimed one of the bluebird houses.
