On Friday, April 22, got a chance to visit Chesapeake Native Nursery in Davidsonville, Anne Arundel County. At dusk, I was lucky to encounter several Woodcock chirping their wings in display and also 'peenting.'

Prior to that, some other highlights at the farm were:
Four sparrow species - Field Sparrows seen; White-throated, Song, and Chipping heard singing.
Barred Owl heard twice.
First Chimney Swift of year heard briefly while passing over.
On the creek were a Great-Blue Heron, Canada Geese, and Mallards.

Saw a very cold female Falcate Orangetip butterfly perched on a flower. Sara Tangren, owner of nursery, got some excellent close shots of this on her digital camera. She sent me one today - excellent!

New to yard for year on Saturday, the 23rd (Bowie): Ovenbird and Blue-headed Vireo.
