On Thurs afternoon 4 - 21 - 05 leaving work the fast drying
puddle on Charmichael Rd still has birds in it 7 Wooduck drakes and 1
female , 2 Mallards and 1 Lesser yellow Leggs. Also on Thurs afternoon
the puddle on Bloomingdale rd still has lots of yellow Leggs both
species, and 1 Wilsons Snipe. First thing this morning upon arriving at
work at the Wye Research Center there was a small flock of Chipping
Sparrows 8 to be exact feeding in the grass. The nearest one was
pecking on the unopened seed head of a Dandelion . It was not having
much luck exracting any seed. The Chippie than jumped up onto the flower
stalk which bent to the ground under the birds weight. Then it was able
to get some seed for breakfast. this was a most interesting thing to
watch.

Latter in the morning i encountered a female Robin gathering mud
in its beak at a rain puddle .Just Before Lunch a Barred Owl called from
a wooded area nearby.
also flying by was the GoodYear Blimp it was quite loud
