I took a lengthy lunchtime walk yesterday, the first in quite a while.
I was able to determine the following:
The Osprey nest on the train bridge over the Potomac is occupied.
Catbirds and Brown Thrashers were ubiquitous around the Tidal
basin and the DC Veteran's Memorial.
   Eastern Kingbirds were there too.
Plenty of Double-crested Cormorants on all bodies of water.
Still a very few Ring-billed Gulls about (but no adults).
Lots of White-throated Sparrows singing, but only a couple of
Juncos at the DC Veteran's Memorial.
Rough-winged Swallows and Barn Swallows are abundant at
      the Tidal Basin.
Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles are congregating
     around Constitution Gardens.
There were several American Goldfinches there too.
   Migrant warblers: Yellow-rumped (everywhere)
Yellow (here and there, most around Constitution Gardens).

And now it's back to my desk, where I may remain for another
few weeks.
