Hi all,
I stopped by the "Mash" late Friday afternoon to scout for a field trip
there on Saturday (which was canceled due to rain). Not much activity but I did
find a single American Coot on the larger of the 2 ponds, #146 for my trail
list. A single male Blue-winged Teal flew off as I approached the pond. The
maintenance crew has cut a swath around the big pond (inside the fence and
landfill), for some unknown reason, and a small bulldozer was working on some
sort of road work nearby, causing a lot of ruckus.

Yellow Warblers were common, as were C. Yellowthroats, and Savannah Sparrows
were in evidence, looking very handsome. N. Rough-winged Swallows, Barn
Swallows and Tree Swallows were all over the smaller pond, and Chimney Swifts
too. A pair of Spotted Sandpipers were by the pond edge too.

Hope for better weather on Sunday...
