Hi everyone!

I just had to share my warm fuzzy moments from last
night. When I got home from work I saw a killdeer on
the street, not too far from my driveway (not an
unusual occurrence). When I got out of the car,
though, he started fussing at me when I went to check
my mail. I soon found out why - there was a second
adult (the female, I'm assuming) not too far away, and
a little bit further (once I got my scope out) were
three chicks, looking like "Mini Me"s. I watched them
for a while, finding a better, less conspicuous place
where they wouldn't be as distressed. At one point
all three chicks went and "hid" under the mother - you
could barely tell they were there, aside from the
apparent extra legs...I'm wondering if they just
hatched yesterday, because I can't imagine I would
have missed such a display.

Good birding!
