The May 2005 issue of a publication called ATTRACTION came out today
in Talbot County, and the cover page was graced with 6 by 8 and 1/2 inch
photo of a Great Horned Owl with Owlet on an Osprey platform. The picture
is absolutely beautiful. At the time the photo was taken, the owlet was
said to be about seven weeks old. The photo catches one of the adults in
the process of landing on the side of the nest. The publication carries a
brief story that mainly emphasizes the difficulty associated with attaining
the cover photograph. Practically nothing is said about the rather unusual
feature of an owl using an Osprey nest that is mainly over water. The
platform pole appears to be about 24 feet high and appears to be anchored to
a piling at the end of a pier. Since this platform is over water, some of
us are a bit concerned as to how the young owl will manage to succeed with
its maiden flight.

If any readers of MDOSPREY have heard of owls using Osprey platforms,
please let me know.

The ATTRACTION publication is a freebie advertising document that
comes out monthly and can be picked up at numerous places of business such
as 7/11 stores, grocery stores, card shops, banks, etc. It mainly provides
all kinds of suggestions regarding what to buy or see or do in Talbot
County. The May edition has 79 pages.
