I stopped over a friends house this afternoon. She had reported to me that she had a Rose-breasted Grosbeak coming to her feeder which is located in her back yard. So I went over to check it out. I was there about 10 minutes and it showed up to feed. I did hear it when I first got there. Squeeek. Classic note. Nice bird to see. I usually hear them more than I see them. I got some nice pictures of him.
Impressively enough that wasn't all that was there. A Red-breasted Nuthatch was singing. ink, ink, ink, ink, ink. The funny thing is that 3 years ago I was at her house at the beginning of June and she had a Red-breasted Nuthatch burrowing out a hole in a dead pine tree. I never kept up with what happened with that attempt. I will keep you posted on this one.
Also today here at her house, I had 1 Black and White, Pine 2, Myrtle 10, Blackburnian Warbler 1, Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 2, Ovenbird 2, Great-crested Flycatcher 1, still many White-throated Sparrows. This morning at 5 am she had 2 different Whip-poor Wills.
