I have a catbird in my yard that mimics woodpecker behavior. For the past
several days the catbird has been hanging upside down from an inverted suet
feeder helping itself to the contents. So much for the inverted design
foiling such behavior!

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Mimids and oranges

For the past two weeks Iıve been putting out orange halves hoping to attract
a Baltimore Oriole or two. Instead Catbirds usually hog it for themselves.
Until this morning, when I discovered both a Mockingbird and a Brown
Thrasher (both regular feeders on the seed I scatter on my patio) sitting
side by side atop the orange halves gulping down orange bits. This afternoon
itıs a mimid merry-go-round with the birds driving one another off for a
turn at the oranges.
