For the past two weeks Iıve been putting out orange halves hoping to attract
a Baltimore Oriole or two. Instead Catbirds usually hog it for themselves.
Until this morning, when I discovered both a Mockingbird and a Brown
Thrasher (both regular feeders on the seed I scatter on my patio) sitting
side by side atop the orange halves gulping down orange bits. This afternoon
itıs a mimid merry-go-round with the birds driving one another off for a
turn at the oranges.
