Hi all,

Just got back from Loch Raven Reservoir at
Merrymans Mill Rd bridge in Cockeysville. This
morning on way to work at the bridge, we were slowed
down by a bus (always going slow at that bridge),
while waiting for the bus to pick up speed, I just
glace over my right when I saw a cormorant glide down
for a landing. It wasn't right for a double-crested,
it has a long wing, long tail, heavy white spot/streak
on wings and upper back, buffy or brown on neck (not
sure if it a female or a immature), the neck is not in
good view, as it was gliding away from me for a
landing. It was a nice big bird.

I left work early before 530pm to find that bird
again at Merryman Mill Rd bridge. For an hour of
searching, cannot be found. The water has a lot of
old stumps and falling trees from previous storms
which made this habitat suitable for Anhinga. Other
birds seen recently at old stumps, N. Rough-wing,
Barn, Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron, Wood Ducks
(cove).....

For parking, there is one shoulder big enough for one
small car, but you'll have to go farther at Poplar
Hill Rd for plenty parking and walk from there.
Careful where you'll set up scope, some cars speed and
often close to shoulder.

We rarely get Double-crested all summer, usually see
them all winter.

The time of Anhinga sighting was at 754am this
morning.

Good luck to anyone to find this bird. There had been
sightings from Anne Arundel Co few weeks ago.
