A fair number of birds scattered around Rock Creek this morning, though as has been the case a lot this month it was not easy to actually see these, with far more heard than seen.

In the end got up to 17 species of warbler for 2 hrs this morning though as noted above relatively few actually seen: Parula (several scattered through park), Nashville (1, Nature Center), Myrtle (lots, still in song), Blackpoll (also widespread), Yellow (1, ridge), Magnolia (Nature Center), Bay-breasted (1, singing in Dog Run), BT Blue (also widespread), BT Green (1 at ridge), Black-and-White (maybe 4 or 5 around), Redstart, Worm-eating (1, near MY), Hooded (at least 4, including one near MY with a very cheery Indigo Bunting-like tone to his song), Canada (1 singing off Ridge), Ovenbird (very cooperative, had very good looks at least 10 different birds today!), Louisana Waterthrush (singing distantly down from ridge) and Kentucky Warbler 2 of latter (1 heard first by Rob Hilton at Picnic Area 20 and then another in the woods at the Dog Run, the latter singing only a few times).

Others: Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Veery (many though still none singing), Swainsons Thrush (around 5 heard), plenty of Wood Thrush. Only heard a single Acadian Flycatcher and no other empids. Plenty of Red-eyed Vireo and a couple of Scarlet Tanagers heard, also Yellow-billed Cuckoo calling and Baltimore Oriole at both the Nature Center and the Dog Run. I heard a couple of White-throated Sparrows but did not see/hear any R/C Kinglets, nor any Hermit Thrushes.
