Hi Maryland Birders,

Due to the recent changes in Federal regulations the Department of Natural Resourced is again working to control the Mute Swan population in Maryland.

If you have been birding and spotted a Mute Swan nest please contact Larry Hindman of DNR at ,us A few nests have started to hatch already so it may be too late for some.

If you know of a nest location please contact Larry and help control this introduced invasive species.

FYI! Did you know that a single Mute Swan can eat between 9 - 12 pounds of SAV's (Submerged Aquatic Vegetation/bay grasses) per day in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Naturally,
