A yellow bird with black markings (and white wing bar) sung from bare
branches numerous times yesterday -- in the trees along my townhouse
backyard. According to the pictures in Peterson's Field Guide, it
appears to be a Lawrence's Warbler, not a common yellow throat, or any
of the other warblers. I haven't found its vocalization on the web to
compare to what I heard.
I also saw and heard the yellow-billed cuckoo (and heard several
different warblers that I could not see or identify.) (I'll read the
web links about Lawrence's this evening.)
Thanks for any comments about the possible sighting of Lawrence's Warbler.
