May Count on Saturday, May 14th in the Miles River Neck region of Talbot
County, turned up 85 species and 1663 individual birds.
    Highlights:
Glossy Ibis (13) - at Pickering Creek - the flock took to the
air when a Bald Eagle passed over, making the counting quite easy.
Short-billed Dowitcher (2) - also at Pickering Creek - these two
flew in while I was viewing the wetland ponds.
Other shorebirds - Semipalmated Plover (5), Killdeer (11), Greater
Yellowlegs (14), Lesser Yellowlegs (13), Solitary Sandpiper (1), Spotted
Sandpiper (1), Semipalmated Sandpiper (1), and Least Sandpiper (34). (Many,
but not all of these were at the Pickering Creek Wetland Ponds.)
        Chuck Will's Widow (6) - calling between 5:30 and 6:00 along Gregory
Road.
Eastern Wood Pewee (5) - they seem to have come into the area the
night before.
        Warblers - Yellow-rumped, Pine, Prairie, Blackpoll, Worm-eating,
Ovenbird, Louisiana Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, and Yellow-breasted
Chat.
        Summer Tanager (2)
        Scarlet Tanager (6)
