I had some time to kill in the Layhill/Bel Pre area on Monday. I almost
spent it at CVS before I remembered the reports on here from Layhill Park. I
am glad I went there instead! In half an hour, just walking around a parking
lot, with no binoculars, I saw:
 Eastern Towhee
Baltimore Oriole
Orchard Oriole
Chipping Sparrow
House Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Kingfisher
Mourning Dove
Robin
Tree Swallow (and maybe another species or two, I couldn't tell)
Catbird
Canada goose
Cedar Waxwing (2)
 Birding is so cool!
No Lincoln Sparrow or Northern Waterthrush as someone else on here
reported, but probably wouldn't recognize them if I saw them (especially
without binoculars).
I also have a May Count list from Saturday at Locust Grove Nature Center,
but it is at home so I will send it out later.
