Just got back from a walk around Sewell's Orchard pond and bike paths in the light drizzle this evening, and was amazed at the number of BLACKPOLL WARBLERS that were present. I must have seen and heard 20-25! Never seen that many in that area before! There was even one singing in the tree in my front yard when I got back!

The highlight of my walk, though, was a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT -- a life-bird for me!! What a beautiful boy he was! That's two lifers in as many weeks (saw two CERULEAN WARBLERs at McKeldin last weekend thanks to reports on this list!).

Also present was a BLUE GROSBEAK (first of the year for me).

Complete list from this evening's walk:

Great Blue Heron

Canada Goose

Mallard

Northern Flicker

Eastern Kingbird

American Crow

Tree Swallow

Barn Swallow

Carolina Chickadee

Carolina Wren

American Robin

Gray Catbird

Northern Mockingbird

European Starling

Blackpoll Warbler

Common Yellowthroat

Yellow-breasted Chat

Song Sparrow

Northern Cardinal

Blue Grosbeak

Common Grackle

American Goldfinch

House Sparrow
