Surprised to see green heron on a nest in plain view - on a limb hanging
over a small pond. When I first saw the heron on a limb, I noticed
"trash" in the tree, with some blue packing popcorn. When she got on
the nest and started tucking the blue balls underneath her, it was
obvious they were eggs!
For the first time in a month, yesterday I neither saw nor heard
Baltimore Orioles at GC Lakes, but the nest in the top of a wild cherry
tree between two lakes appears sturdy and full. I watched her build
last week.
With Gail M's help, it became clear to me that the possible Lawrence's
Warbler that I posted last week was most likely an immature orchard
oriole. The song was definitely oriole-like.
