Highlights of the BBC walk at Owings Mills Mall ³Wetland² included Alder and
Willow Flycatchers, Baltimore and Orchard Orioles, a close-up of a Warbling
Vireo and very good looks at Canada and Wilsonıs Warblers (for most of us).
Sixty-four types of bird were tallied with 5 flycatchers, 3 Vireo, 11
warbler and 2 sparrow species. The Empidonax flycatchers seemed be in a
funny mood: while in sight they were silent, singing only while hidden away.
Four active Great Blue Heron nests [along Painterıs Mill Blvd.] had two
nestlings each. We also found both adult Downy Woodpeckers taking food
young in the nest cavity.
