Sunday morning I birded the #50 service road field near Bay Head Road and the field and circle at entrance to Sandy Point State Park. The field (private property) near Bay Head Road, which can be birded from the service road with a scope, yielded the following migrants:

blue grosbeak
indigo bunting
yellow-breasted chat
brown thrasher
willow flycatcher
red-eyed vireo
common yellowthroat

At the entrance to the park I saw the following apparent pairs:

cedar waxwing
orchard oriole
eastern bluebird
eastern kingbird

The real treat was a singing summer tanager (immature male) near the park mailbox. He both preened and sang back and forth between the tops of 30' trees on opposite sides of the road. He also posed nicely for photos.
This was my first summer tanager for the year and the first in Anne Arundel County.
