Denise,
Sounds like FY for Red-shouldered Hawk, DD for Killdeer, and ON for Orchard Oriole. I believe only the female oriole builds the nest and males do breed in their first summer.

One was located near the Bowie Town Center at the intersection Rt. 50 and 197. The other was at the soon to be opened Cheverly Lower Beaver Dam Creek Trail North of Rt. 50 and West of Rt. 202 off of Wayne Street. It also produced a bunch of fledgling Tufted Titmouse.

The Kildeer have been using the broken wing disply to lure me away from the nesting area for the last two weeks. It is in short grass covered in pebbles. I expect to see some chicks there soon -- I hope.

Is it possible the first year male built the nest and is advertising for a female? If anyone decides to check the area out - there are also a pair of Eastern Kingbirds working the area. I have not seen the nest yet.
