Hi all today here at the Wye Research Center near Queenstown I found a
Great Crested flycatcher nesting in a stack of 4 inch Irrgation pipe stacked
on a wheeled cart that been unused for 3 to 4 weeks. This is pretty far
from the woods or edge of it no close trees . I saw an adult in this area
last week but did not think much of it at the time. the most interesting
thing about this there are 7 nests or starts of in this pipe 2 nests are
looking nearly complete 1 had an egg at the entrance to the pipe. that nest
also has the normal for a Great crested Flycatcher shed snake skin .
1 adult also present today. Makes a nice breeding confrimation For
my Queenstown SE Block. If anyone wants to see a digital Picture email me
off list email address below
