After work this afternoon I decided to take a 10 minute walk by Lake Kittamaqundi. At first I thought the best thing was going to be an Orchard Oriole there. It was only the 2nd good look that I've gotten of one this year. But at the 'entrance' of the path I saw a bird that I thought was a Northern Mockingbird. I decided to lift up by binos and look at it before I left. It turned out to be my first ever YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO! I never would have thought that one of those birds would be around here. I got a perfect look at it too. It didn't fly away quickly like some field guides say, but I got to look at it for several seconds before it left. That was perfect, and the 2nd time this year I added a lifer after work.
