Hello all.
I birded Lake Roland from 4:30-8:30 this afternoon/evening. Total of 51
species.
The water level is finally starting to drop, it's about 5 inches lower
than it was last week.
Highlights:
By the Falls:
BCN Heron: 2
YCN Heron: 1
RB Woodpecker: fledgling
Main trail from train tracks to old RR bridge:
Wood Duck: Heard along the canal
G. Blue Heron: 2 By the Wood Duck pond
A. Kestrel: Being harassed by a Kingbird
Barred Owl: Calling, then seen
Killdeer: Mud flats
Spotted Sandpiper: Mud flats
C. Swift: many
Barn, NRW and Tree Swallows in good numbers
Pileated WP
C. Waxwing: Still several around the park
WB Nuthatch: ON near the RR bridge
BG Gnatcatcher
E. Kingbird: pair
EW Pewee
WE Vireo
RE Vireo
YB Cuckoo: In the trees over the "concrete structure"
E. Bluebird: RR Bridge area
W. Thrush
B. Oriole: In four different spots along the trail
O. Oriole: Seen from the high berm
Yellow Warbler
C. Yellowthroat
