Hi everyone,
I am not sure if this block is being covered or not, but in my weekly (well
lately biweekly) surveys around Locust Grove Nature Center, I have noticed
some nesting.
 - One Orchard Oriole nest: watched her weave it a month ago and now can
hear babies when she flies up
- One Eastern Kingbird nest: again, noticed the nest a month ago & saw two
going in and out. This past week saw one in close proximity to the nest but
not right in it.
- Two Bluebird nests: two nests of 5 birds each have already fledged, and
now there are two more nests (one had 5 eggs in it on Sunday, the other was
still empty). And I think at least one nest box that other people were
monitoring fledged one brood so far.
- At least one, maybe two, Red Bellied Woodpecker nests: I saw the bird
calling from a hole months ago, and hear it from that same dead tree with
the hole in it every week. There was another hole I saw them checking out
but I haven't seen them in it lately (but I don't think I was looking)
I am not sure if this is useful/new info or not, but I thought it might be
to someone.
Only other bird of note was a possible Blackburnian Warbler, but I could
hardly see it to be sure.
