While atlasing today I was delighted to see a Grasshopper Sparrow at Eastern Regional Park, Middle River, Baltimore County. The bird was perched on a fence on the east side of the park, singing away. Unfortunately, I could not hear the middle of the song-- my high-frequency hearing has declined just enough so that a few species are now more-or-less inaudible.
I also saw a perched Osprey and heard (from park workers) an interesting story about Osprey nesting. There is a man-made platform on one of the ponds, but the birds prefer to build their own nest on a large light fixture.
