This morning I found a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT at the National Arboretum.
It was in the meadow area between Fern Valley and the Youth Garden.
There may have been a second chat, but I was unable to confirm it. I
did, however, get several very good looks at one - what a beautiful bird!

The rest of the birds were the usual species one would expect to find
there at this time of year. Other highlights: one Green Heron
overflight, singing Indigo Buntings scattered about, a Yellow-billed
Cuckoo calling from the woods near the Azalea Garden, Northern Parulas
singing all over the Arboretum, and a White-eyed Vireo in the Asian Garden.

Good birding,

John Beetham
