Chickadees raised a brood in a wren box hanging in the front yard this
spring. Today the grass was littered with the fur lining of the nest. A house
wren was pulling it out. The chickadees were scolding loudly. Will they use
the same nest again? Will be interesting to see if the wren builds a nest or,
as their wont, was just being destructive.

ps- One of the chicks fell out of the nest a few weeks ago. What a tough
little cuss. We would have never noticed it, but it hissed at us from about five
feet away. When I picked it up, boy did it try to intimate me! |
