I spotted a pair of WARBLING VIREOS this morning on the
Paint Branch Stream Valley Park path, in the leafy trees
beside the golf course (north of the swamp). Distinguished
from Philadelphia Vireo by only slight tinges of yellow on
sides and undertail, and pale eyebrow with no dark lores.
They also gave buzzy notes. My first Warbling Vireos of the
year (I had some last year in a similar location). Other
highlights today included a juvenile Eastern Bluebird with
an adult male, the ever-popular mimic trifecta, and the
following warblers: Yellow Warbler (a male with only faint
rusty streaks), Common Yellowthroat, and Yellow-breasted
Chat (I find the latter two regularly along the path where
the tornado ripped through in 2001). Full list for today
(9:15 am-10 am):
