Went out today to Poplar with Jan Reese and had a fairly exciting day. I
will only list the highlights though since I didn't keep the list and cannot
recall exact numbers for most species.

2 possibly 3 black terns
4 long-tailed ducks
1 Male Lesser Scaup
2 Surf Scoters
3 Ruddy Ducks
1 American Avocet
1 Black-necked Stilt
1 Red Knot
2 White-rumped Sandpipers
1 Ruddy Turnstone

All and all it was a pretty good day, the stilt and the scaup were new
species for me on the island. The tern colonies on the island all have
started to hatch young so lots of attention is being placed on them. Sorry
I won't be posting on Poplar for awhile since I will be heading off to North
and South Dakota over the weekend and then off to college orientation.

Good Birding Everyone
