Hi Folks,

Elaine and I did some local atlasing this morning in our Curtis Bay CW block
in northern Anne Arundel Co., also visiting the neighboring SW block that is
being covered by Bill Hubick. We hiked a series of paths off of Marley Neck
Blvd -- what I call the "Trash Trail" as it is still used as a dumping
ground, and is pretty revolting, but the birds seem to be OK with it, and
this is where we had both chucks and whips at the same time a couple weeks
ago. There are a lot of fledges out and about these days, and we were able
to pick up several confirms. Also a lot of birds are still singing, so we
had a nice list for the day. The tally (including which block):

DC Cormorant--2 (CB/CW)
Great Blue Heron--2 (CB/CW)
Osprey--1 (CB/CW)
Red-tailed Hawk--1 adult (CB/SW; also a high-pitched plaintive call may have
been a youngster)
Killdeer--2, 1 adult and 1 fledged young (CB/SW)
Herring Gull--1 (CB/CW)
Rock Pigeon--1 (CB/CW, surprisingly flushed from the path in the woods, way
out of habitat)
YB Cuckoo--4 still very vocal (CB/CW)
Chimney Swift--1 flyover (CB/SW)
Red-bellied Woodpecker--6 (both blocks)
Downy Woodpecker--7 (both blocks)
N. Flicker--1 (CB/SW)
E. Wood-Pewee--2 (CB/SW)
Acadian Flycatcher--2 (one each block; very vocal)
Great Crested Flycatcher--4 (one active pair in each block)
E. Kingbird--2 (pair in CB/SW)
White-eyed Vireo--2 (one singing in each block)
Red-eyed Vireo--10 (both blocks)
Blue Jay--3
Crow, sp--6, all together; one doing a begging call, but I couldn't tell if
American or Fish (CB/CW)
Barn Swallow--3 flyovers (CB/CW)
C. Chickadee--8 (both blocks)
T. Titmouse--1 (CB/SW)
WB Nuthatch--1 (CB/SW)
Carolina Wren--7 (both blocks)
BG Gnatcatcher--5, including one fledged youngster (CB/CW)
Wood Thrush--6--still singing (both blocks)
Am. Robin--10 (CB/CW)
G. Catbird--6 (both blocks)
Brown Thrasher--2 (CB/CW)
Cedar Waxwing--5 (both blocks)
Ovenbird--2 (one singing in each block)
Hooded Warbler--2 (one singing in each block)
Common Yellowthroat--6, including 2 fledges, all in CB/CW
YB Chat--1 very vocal (CB/CW)
Scarlet Tanager--1 very vocal (CB/CW)
E. Towhee--8 (both blocks)
Chipping Sparrow--3, including a fledged youngster (CB/CW)
Field Sparrow--1 (CB/SW)
N. Cardinal--7, including fledgling (CB/CW)
Blue Grosbeak--pair in CB/CW; male in CB/SW
Indigo Bunting--5, including fledgling (CB/CW)
Red-winged Blackbird--10 (CB/SW)
Brown-headed Cowbird--7 (both blocks), including a fledgling up in a pine
tree, looking lost (CB/CW) I wonder if the surrogate parent was a Pine
Warbler
House Finch--2 pairs (CB/CW)
Am. Goldfinch--4 (CB/CW)

In Gambrill's Cove Ct, off of Energy Dr., off of Ft. Smallwood Drive was a
GLOSSBY IBIS and three LEAST TERNs. Thanks to Sue Ricciardi for pointing
this place out to me. The former was an AA County bird for me, and they are
getting tough to come by.
