Hi all last eveing July 12,05 after an errand on Kent Island I went
check for county year birds I went to Dominion to view birds from the boat
ramp there . Delorme map 49 C5 this looks out to Crab Alley Bay and
Eastern Bay . Bodkin Island can be seen from here on clear days it however
is a good ways out there spotting scope is a must here. Birds seen on
Bodkin and nearby

Lots of DC Cormorants Bodkin
1 COMMON LOON west of Bodkin island swimming and diving
headed to the west
Many Greater Blackbacked Gulls Bodkin
         2 Great Blue Herons
  2 Great Egret

2 Snowy Egret
2 Forster's Tern
5 including young in the nest Osprey

     A stop at Kent Narrows

1 Common Tern on the Jetty in the narrows No chicks seen also no chicks
seen on Sun July 10, 05
Not a very safe nesting site several large and medium sized gulls around.
lots of boat traffic and fishermen here as well.

At about 8:15 to around 8:30 pm there was a short Dumpy looking heron
feeding in the shallow pond across from the Remax Real Estate office.
This is at wells Cove Rd and Rt18 Delorme map 49 C6. Well anyway I
placed my the Spotting scope on the window mount and checked it out it was
an adult Black Crowned Night-Heron. More scoping revelled 3 more adult
Black- Crowned Night-Herons sitting on some metal posts in the water to the
east of the feeding one. total Night Herons 4 adults 2 birds still had
the white breeding plumes on the heads at least one anyway. Also last
night scoping the trees in the back of the pond on the side of the pond
closest to the hotel the trees had a coating of white wash as if the herons
have been here for a few days. I was here last on Sun July 10 in the
morning checked the area then no Night Herons or white wash seen .

Last year at this time I found several B.C Night Herons here adult,
immature as well as sub Adult for a high of seven. To one as late as late
Nov of 04.
