I ran up to Cecil County this morning in search of Vesper Sparrows but got
Dickcissels instead. Two were singing on either side of Old Telegraph Rd
south of Middleneck Rd. There is a dirt driveway on the west side of Old
Telegraph Rd 0.8 miles south of Middleneck Rd that provides a convenient
pull-off (it's also about 0.8 miles north of the T-intersection of Old
Telegraph Rd, Water St, and Rumsey Rd in Warwick if you're coming from the
other direction). The birds were perching on both bushes and wires in
that area. One of the birds chased a Red-winged Blackbird away from the
shrubs on the east side of the road.
