Saw my first ever Baltimore Oriole juvenile from our backyard deck this morning. It called first (a rattle-like call), while perched on an electric line running to the house, fluffed its feathers, let me get good looks at its brownish head, then took off to the west toward the C & O Canal.

Other juveniles around included:

Ruby-throat Hummingbirds (at least 2 immatures, 1 male adult, 1 female adult; lots of chasing, wi the adult male trying to guard all the feeders, trumpeter vines & assorted flowers; despite the work looks like he's putting on weight for a trip south)
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Mourning Dove
Carolina Wren
Tufted Titmouse
Norther Cardinal (2 imm; wi 2 adults m/f)
Common Grackle
European Starling
Brown-headed Cowbird (2 imm.)
House Sparrow

Good birding,
