Blue Mash Nature Trail, Zion Road Section, Montgomery Co., 13 Aug 05,
0715-0915
A solo walk along the BMNT on another 3H morning. With each passing August
day, the cicada dB level ratchets up a notch. A tad more birdier than
Thursday with 35 species heard or observed. Birds of note: 11 Wood Duck &
42 Canada Geese on the pond; 30+ Chimney Swift overhead; a Tufted Titmouse
carrying a large acorn in its beak; a Wood Thrush in the green tunnel; a
juvenile Brown Thrasher; and, what appeared to be, an apparently early
Orange-crowned Warbler. Red-winged Blackbird, a BMNT regular, have been
conspicuously absent.
