I needed to go to work at Goddard Space Flt Cntr (PG Cty) for a few hours
today, so I spent a couple of (early) hours birding there. It started out
!very! slow at about 7:15, with only a couple of flickers, some robins, and
still more common birds. After the first hour, it was heating up, so I
started birding in the car. Not sure whether it was the car or the
time-of-day, but all of a sudden, things picked up dramatically. I guess
the best birds were a family of Blue Grosbeaks, but also had a gnatcatcher,
a female Yellow Warbler, a couple of pewees, a cuckoo, at least 2 heard-only
GC Flycatchers, etc. Since I didn't see another soul there, the list is
below. About 9:30 the urge to cool off in my office overcame the birding
urge - I'm a weather wimp.
