Great to see that the fall movement is on. I have also seen Nighthawks
over the house in Van Ness NW DC for the last two evenings and have just
seen a rapidly moving full adult Bald Eagle zoom right past the office
window.
Also of note in the last few days are a fledged family of Kestrels (2
adults, 2 immatures) taking up occupancy outside the Audubon office perched
atop the office on the corner of Connecticut and Rhode Island Avenues in NW
DC. They are catching insects on the wing and generally messing about
around the cathedral and even dropping down onto the sidewalk on Rhode
Island to pick up insects (I presume). Very entertaining.
Cheers
