Kurt Schwarz's article in the September / October 2005 Howard County
Birdclub's "The Goldfinch" prompted me to send this email. Kurt describes
the benefits of a Duck Stamp which is $15 for a year. This year's stamp of
drake Hooded Mergansers was chosen by a committee with Kenn Kaufman. The
stamp gives you a year's admission to the National Wildlife Refuges and the
National Park Service honors them at Assateague National Seashore.
Since the refuge offices are closed many of the times we bird, a tip is to
pick up your Duck Stamp at a local Post Office. I got mine, this year, at
the Post Office on Shaker Lane in Columbia, MD.
