Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch Sunday, Sept. 11th 2005
The first few Broad-winged hawks arose from the ridge just north of us by 9:00 am. At 10:12 am
we saw our first kettle of BWHs (31 counted) which flew right over the watch site. Another kettle of
42 BWHs was seen at 10:30 am. By 11 o'clock the Broadwings were gaining altitude and became
difficult to find against the clear blue sky. Some clouds appeared by afternoon and a few small
streams of hawks were seen only when they passed under a cloud. Still, 192 Broad-winged hawks
is not bad!!

Totals for CVP Hawkwatch 9/11/2005
Broad-winged hawk -192
Sharp-shinned hawk -19
Osprey -8
Coopers hawk -2
N. Harrier -3

Bald Eagle - 2 -both adults- the 1st at 12:50 pm - the 2nd at 2:40 pm
