Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch Monday, Sept. 19th 2005
Keep looking up, and they will come. Today they finally did!
The Broad-winged hawks started passing over about 10:00 am in groups of 5 to 10 birds. After
11:00 am larger groups of 25, 24, 40 and 66 were counted. These BWs were very high and hard to
see. It was like that all day, with large and small groups passing by intermittently. At 3:15 pm we
had our largest stream of hawks with at least 250 BWs counted. Flight pretty much ended by 4:30
pm.
Tuesday looks to be questionable with chance of rain and winds out of the south. Stilll, we will be
at the watch-site and see how it goes. Wednesday and Thursday look promising.
