Turkey Point 10/2/04

Yesterday 10/2/04, Jim Stasz, Kim Caughey, and I, along with our dog Pixie, went to Turkey Point looking for some migrants.  We found a few, but mainly marveled the Blue Jay spectacle occuring there right now.  Here are some highlights:
 
Richardson's Goose - 1 with 3 Canada Geese, could naked eye its small structure, long thin wings, and gray body
Sharp-shinned Hawk - about 12 the Lee's were doing the official watch
Cooper's Hawk - about 6
Northern Harrier - 1
Broad-winged Hawk - 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1
Red-headed Woodpecker - 2-3 missed Sapsucker for the sweep
Yellow-shafted Flicker - 20
Eastern Wood-Pewee - 2
Eastern Phoebe - 4
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
Red-eyed Vireo - 8
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 4 (3 flyovers at the hawk watch)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 6
Northern Parula - 6
Magnolia Warbler - 3
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 5
Black-throated Green Warbler - 4 
Western Palm Warbler - 2
Scarlet Tanager - 5 (3 flyovers at the hawk watch)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 4
