Tom,

The Maryland/DC Records Committee reviews reports of the Red-shafted race of 
Northern Flicker. In the event that this race is returned to full species 
status (yes, most of us doubt that this will occur) the record will be used 
to document previous occurrences in the state and DC. If you have the time 
and can remember the details, a written submission of the occurrence would 
be appreciated.
