I spent an enjoyable morning in St. Mary's County Sunday (10/23), hopping
between St. Mary's River Park and the Beauvue ponds as I dodged duck
hunters and beagle exercisers. Highlights:

lot:

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 3
Tree Swallow - 12
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 10
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 2
Northern Parula - 1
Yellow-rumps - loads
Palm Warbler - 6 (4 yellow, 2 western)
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Field Sparrow - 2
Swamp Sparrow - 10
White-crowned Sparrow - 1 (juv)
White-throated Sparrow - 10
Dark-eyed Junco - 4

Beauvue Ponds:

American Wigeon - 1
Gadwall - 1
American Black Duck - 2
Ring-necked Duck - 8
Lesser Scaup - 9
Bufflehead - 2
Ruddy Duck - 40
Northern Harrier - 1

On Friday (10/21), returning from the Gray Kingbird, also saw 2 Ruddy

behind the strip mall on 404.
